HYMN # 98  “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”                       Nathan Johanning, organist

LITANY OF PRAISE (selected verses from Psalm 118)

ONE:  Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
             His love endures forever.

ALL:  Let Israel say:
             "His love endures forever."

ONE:  Let those who fear the LORD say:
              "His love endures forever."

ALL:  The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid.
              What can man do to me?

ONE:  It is better to take refuge in the LORD
              than to trust in man.

ALL:  The LORD is my strength and my song;
                He has become my salvation.

ONE:  Open for me the gates of righteousness;
              I will enter and give thanks to the LORD.

ALL:  The stone the builders rejected
                has become the capstone;

ONE:  the LORD has done this,
                and it is marvelous in our eyes.

ALL:  This is the day the LORD has made;
       let us rejoice and be glad in it.

ONE:  Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD.
               From the house of the LORD we bless You.

ALL:  You are my God, and I will give You thanks;
                You are my God, and I will exalt You.

ONE:  Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;

ALL:  His love endures forever.

THE MESSAGE, "Caught By Jesus"                                      by Matt Ferguson, pastor

“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.  Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen.”

*DECLARATION OF FAITH (The Apostles' Creed)

          I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth,

                       and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord;

          Who was conceived of the Holy Ghost,

                       born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,

             was crucified, dead, and buried.

                    He descended into hades.

          The third day He rose again from the dead.

                    He ascended into heaven

          and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,

                   from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

                    I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church,

             the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,

                       the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.  Amen.

(The below is from Wayne Wedekind, Andrew's dad.)

     Welcome to this celebration of life for my son, Andrew Wedekind.

     We are so blessed with having Andrew with us for 20 years.  We miss Andrew’s smile, his easy laugh and his dry sense of humor, always quiet, easy going and pleasant to be around.

     Over the years he has shown pigs.  He has a gift for judging livestock and this ability has allowed him to finance his education.  Through his experience in 4-H and FFA, Andrew has developed leadership skills and management skills.  Andrew has friends far and wide who will remember him and miss him.

     Andrew has been a part of this Church family.  You have nurtured him and encouraged him and his faith in God has grown.  A special thanks goes out to Pastor Matt, Ian, and Rem for taking him on this walk with God.

     I still do not understand how someone with his potential can choose to end his life.  But we know little about anxiety and depression.

     I want us to remember all the good things about Andrew and turn his death into a positive experience.  Jesus was fully man, fully God.  His life on earth was also far too short.  When he died on the cross some people thought his life was over, and all was lost.  As it turns out it was not the end.  It was the beginning.  His disciples were 12 ordinary men.  After Jesus arose from the grave, the Church grew many times over.  These ordinary men wrote the greatest Book ever written and the rest is history.

     Let’s not let this be the last chapter of Andrew’s Book.  Let’s not hang our heads, get lost in bitterness or stop living life.  If you have children, love them more, pay close attention.  If they have problems, help them through the tough times.  If someone comes to faith, if new friends are made or if someone is inspired to live their dream or set their goals higher because of this tragic event, Andrew’ death has not been in vain.

     Anyone so led may make a donation in Andrew’s memory to the Andrew Wedekind Memorial Fund.  This money will be used for the WIU Judging Team, Hillsboro FFA, Montgomery County 4-H and Hillsboro Presbyterian Youth.  These groups were important to Andrew’s development and we feel strongly that they are vital to the youth in our community.

     Let’s take this opportunity to celebrate Andrew’s earthly life and to give thanks for his life everlasting.  Let’s all plan on joining Andrew in the eternal life when our days on earth are over.
